SLF Tangold Star

Barney

SLF Tangold Star “Barney” - A 7 yr old 16.1 hh imported Warmblood gelding by Goldstar out of a Lupicor mare. USEF # 6094303

✅ USEF miles through 1.20m

✅ Bold, honest, brave type that LOVES the job. Wants to jump clean. Rails are generally my own fault, as he has a big step that can be deceiving!

✅ Easy, no prep at the horse shows. Stands ring side.

✅ Lovely and uncomplicated on the flat, hacks out with friends.

✅ Junior/Young rider approved.

✅ More of a push ride until the fences get bigger, and then gives a fantastic light feel to the fence. Easy to rate.

✅ Schooled cross country, with the right program could easily transition to an UL prospect. The right balance of economical and careful.

✅ Soft jump with plenty of scope for the ranking classes.

✅ Clean X-rays from fall import.

🟡 What he lacks: a long USEF record. We’ve done lots of local shows, but didn’t get him down to Florida this winter. Reflects in price for this quality.

🟡 He’s very uphill and short coupled, giving him a compact feel. I love this ride but some people find his natural way of going to be “high headed” (I’m relaying feed back 🤷‍♀️)

🟡 The changes are there, but green. It doesn’t bother him at all to get a bit disunited front to back, but I do think these will come along easily. On course he rarely misses them, but we’re working on getting them a bit more on the aid.

🟡 He LOVES to horse show. Thinks all the activity is fantastic, hacks on the buckle, never blinks an eye. He finds prolonged time in the sand box at home boring, so will periodically pretend he’s never seen the chair that’s been sitting in the same place for 2 weeks. Never a thing when he’s jumping, but on the flat can be “situationally aware”. He’s never carried on other than a quick shy, and it’s more of a “we should avoid this” rather than “I’m leaving with or without you”.

🟡 He’s a bit base wide in his conformation up front, but has excellent rads.
